Periodontology (Gum Treatments)
With such treatments, some diseases that occur in the hard and soft tissues surrounding the teeth are treated. In some cases, when oral and dental hygiene is not observed, gum diseases due to bacterial infections occur. Gingival recession, bleeding and loosening of the teeth are the main symptoms of such diseases. If this problem continues for a long time, gingival diseases progress to the dental bone and can lead to tooth and jaw bone loss. While only professional dental cleaning (twice a day brushing) and good oral care are sufficient to get results in the initial stage, surgical intervention becomes the only option in the advanced stage.
Although there is no health problem in the gingiva in some cases, short or asymmetric gingival length compared to normal causes some aesthetic problems, especially during laughing. The procedure to correct this situation is called “gingival shaping (gingivoplasty)”.
