Prosthetic Dentistry

In case the tooth is partially damaged or completely lost due to some reasons, the process of replacing the missing with prosthesis applications is called "Prosthetic Dentistry". Interventions for color and deformities in teeth are also included in this type of treatment. Partial and complete tooth loss in the mouth negatively affects the functions of the person such as chewing and speaking. In addition to these, aesthetic concerns may arise in such losses. With these applications, the lost tooth is regained with the prosthesis, while aesthetic concerns, especially the functionality of the tooth, are eliminated.

Fixed prostheses used in prosthetic dental treatments
These prostheses; It is a type of prosthesis that is supported by existing healthy teeth or implants, fixed with different chemicals or applied in the mouth. Some of the fixed and removable prostheses that are frequently used today are as follows;

Implant: In this application, an artificial tooth root (often made of titanium) is placed in the jawbone. Then, one of the different types of prosthesis to be preferred is placed with this tooth root. Implants are one of the most preferred types of prosthesis today.

Zirconium supported veneer: It is the type of veneer with the highest light transmittance and closest to the natural appearance of the tooth. In these veneers, the inner part of the tooth consists of zirconium and the outer part consists of porcelain.

Ceramic coating: This type of application can be done without the need to reduce the tooth too much. Such veneers were made of reinforced porcelain. Since it is the most aesthetically advanced veneer type, it is used quite frequently, especially in the treatment of anterior teeth.

Metal supported porcelain veneer: In this type of prosthesis, the inner part of the veneer consists of metal and the outer part consists of porcelain. The most important disadvantage is that it creates problems in the use of anterior teeth in terms of aesthetics due to its low light transmittance.

Crown (veneer): These applications are made in the form of fixing the veneer on the tooth after the tooth is slightly reduced. Crown type veneers are used to eliminate these effects of large dental caries and fractures that disrupt the integrity of the teeth, and also to close the gaps formed between the teeth. With this application, both the integrity of the teeth of the person is preserved and the functionality of the tooth is restored.

Implant prostheses: These types of applications are mostly done by placing fixed or removable prostheses on existing or new implants.

Bridge: This type of application is preferred in cases where there is one or more tooth loss. In bridge treatments, healthy teeth on both sides of the gap formed by the missing tooth are used as bridge pillars. With the prosthesis, both the part that comes into the cavity and the teeth used as a foot are covered as a whole with different techniques such as traditional, winged and hanging.

Removable (palate) prostheses: These types of applications are applied to people who have lost all their teeth for different reasons. Palatal and dental prostheses are prepared as a whole and used by the patient in a removable way.
