In which cases is arthroscopy performed?
  • Knee joint: Meniscus tears, joint membrane diseases, cartilage damage
  • Hip joint: Glass and pincer structures that cause compression disease in the hip joint, sudden strain of the hip joint in sports activities
  • Shoulder joint: More especially in overhead movements; recurrent, persistent shoulder pain, night pain, pain that prevents lying on the aching side, shoulder dislocations

What are the Differences of Arthroscopy from Open Surgery?
Arthroscopy has both imaging and treatment possibilities. It is processed with very thin (5 millimeter diameter) cameras and instruments. It is sufficient to make an incision smaller than 1 cm at the place where the procedure will be performed. There is no need for an incision on the skin layers and muscles. Therefore, there is no need for a long healing process in larger incisions . It leaves a small scar that cannot be seen at the operation site. Thanks to the camera in arthroscopy, every point in the joint area can be reached and the necessary operation can be performed with the image. Arthroscopy; Compared to open surgery, it is a much more painless and comfortable procedure. Because of these advantages, arthroscopy is considered the gold standard in the treatment of many diseases today.
