Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD)

What is coronary artery disease?
Continuous blood flow is required for the heart muscle to function. Coronary artery disease is a mechanical blockage that occurs due to partial or complete cessation of blood flow as a result of narrowing or complete occlusion of the coronary arteries feeding the heart muscle. When there is partial obstruction in the coronary vessels feeding the heart, there is a decrease in blood flow to the heart muscle and chest pain (angina) due to this. If there is a complete blockage of the heart vessels, then the blood flow to the heart muscle is completely stopped and a heart attack develops and the heart muscle is damaged. Coronary artery diseases today It is one of the most common (40%) diseases that cause death.

Coronary artery disease treatment
After coronary angiography, either only drug therapy can be given to the patient or balloon angioplasty and/or stent (steel cage) methods can be applied to open the existing stenosis or obstruction. With these non-surgical procedures performed under local anesthesia, stenosis or blockages in the coronary arteries are opened. Thus, the obstacle in front of the blood flow that the heart needs for healthy functioning is removed. During this procedure, patients do not feel any pain.
