Endometriosis (Chocolate Cyst)
It is the fact that the inner wall of the uterus (endometrium) tissue settles outside the uterus in different parts of the body such as the ovaries, tubes, peritoneum, intestine and urinary bladder and causes chronic inflammation there. This disease is seen in 10% of women of reproductive age, 24-50% of women with infertility problems and 20% of those with chronic lower abdominal pain. These patients are usually diagnosed in their 30s-40s.
The treatment is determined by the patient`s complaints, the degree of the disease and the expectation of a child. This disease can be treated with medication or surgery. Painkillers and hormone-suppressing drugs are used in patients with predominant pain. In cases where pain relievers and hormonal therapy are insufficient in the treatment, the cyst should be removed by laparoscopic method (closed surgery). With surgical treatment, pain is reduced, adhesions are corrected and anatomically restored.
