How Is Uterine Cancer Treated?
If there is no spread, the most important treatment in the early period; is surgical treatment. Various methods are also used in surgery: Total removal of the uterus with the cervix, such as removal with the ovaries. Depending on the situation, surrounding lymph nodes can also be taken. Radiation therapy (radiotherapy); Using X-rays to kill or injure cancer cells is commonly used as an adjunct treatment to reduce the chance of the cancer coming back. It can be recommended as the main treatment for patients who cannot afford surgery. Hormone therapy: Hormone therapy is usually given if the cancer has spread or if the cancer has come back. It is also sometimes used if surgery is not an option. Progesterone is the main hormone therapy for women with uterine cancer and can be administered in tablet form or by injection by a physician or nurse. It helps shrink some cancers and control symptoms. Chemotherapy is used to treat certain types of uterine cancer, or when the cancer comes back after surgery or radiotherapy, or if the cancer is not responding to hormone therapy. It can be used to control cancer and relieve symptoms. It is usually given as a medicine that is injected into a vein (intravenously). The doctor determines the course of chemotherapy treatment and how long it will last.
